Vatulele Island Resort Fiji

Vatulele is located on a spectacular island in the Fiji group just 25 minutes by light aircraft (or helicopter) from Nadi International Airport.

The resort is 'all inclusive' and accommodates just 19 couples who are pampered by 110 staff. Vatulele is an oasis of barefooted elegance.

In keeping with the owners philosophy of providing a total escape, there are no TV's, newspapers, telephones, money transactions or shoes.

Tucked away on a three-quarter mile long white sand beach, on an island completely surrounded by a magnificent coral reef, guests find an abundance of water-based activity: swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving (PADI dive facility), sailing and paddling.

The beauty of the site coupled with a unique architectural style that includes a wide range of 'hand made' details. This stunning combination has made the resort a favourite in magazines all over the world that feature architecture, style and interior design.

DINING

With an emphasis on international sophistication in harmony with its natural setting, the menu features the use of local seafood, fresh produce and succulent fruits. Dine by candlelight under the stars or toast each other with French champagne on the elegant terrace overlooking the lagoon.

DIVING

Vatulele is the only five star island resort in Fiji with a PADI ("Golden Palm" status) dive facility and resident instructors. A variety of courses are on offer: 'Resort' courses, full 'Open Water' certification courses, and various specialty courses. There is a cross-section of diving possibilities: soft coral, hard coral and pelagics.

Underwater visibility ranges from above average to excellent and there are few currents. The island is surrounded by deep water with large 'drop-offs', offering twenty-two dive sites within fifteen minutes' travel. There are no better circumstances to take your first steps into the exhilarating world beneath the sea.

WEDDINGS

Vatulele has a unique, natural & relaxed atmosphere perfectly suited to a magical wedding.

The service is usually held on the beach at sunset, in a 'church' with doors and windows created from plaited coconut leaves and flowers. Traditionally dressed Fijian warriors accompany the bride on a barge trip across the lagoon, and children toss flower petals in the sand as she is carried ashore to take her vows. The ceremony is accompanied by the mellow voices of a village choir raised in sublime harmony.

The vows are solemnised by a Fijian minister, and because of their popularity, we limit weddiings to three a month. All the guests are invited: they participate in champagne toasts, the traditional Kava ceremony, a native feast cooked in pits in the ground, and later enjoy the villagers' genuine ceremonial dances.

Please note the minimum stay for a wedding couple is six nights. This allows time for the celebrants to establish a relationship with the locals, as well as fellow guests, thus ensuring a moving ceremony. For this reason the marriage ceremony is scheduled towards the end of the stay.

Getting There

Air is the only option. They have a daily charter flight departing Nadi at 11.30am and the flight takes 25 minutes. Unless advised to the contrary this is a Pacific Island Seaplanes aircraft which departs from Nadi airport. (Check-in is at the domestic terminal).

The guests luggage allowance on all domestic flights in Fiji is 15kg (33lb. per person) If you are travelling on an extensive trip, to avoid inconvenience, we suggest you pack a separate case for the island and store their excess at Nadi airport.

VILLAS/BURES

The villas or bures are spacious and identical, enjoying easy access to the water, each with its stretch of white sand.

Twelve doors open to an expansive terrace, and from the living room you walk up three steps to the bedroom, with a king size bed and a dressing area.

The bures are around 50 metres apart and are set in natural jungle, allowing privacy.

THE POINT

This is a premium bure with a commanding view of the lagoon and entire beach. It has two levels, with air conditioning and two pools! Not to mention permanent staff assigned on a fulltime basis.  This bure is ideally suited to high profile guests seeking privacy. Demand is particularly high with honeymooners and wedding celebrants.

THE POINT is already heavily booked so be early to avoid disappointment!   

VALE VIQI (pron: 'varlay vingy') pink house, is the name for the Grand Honeymoon Bure.

The most remote of the bures, this mini-palace is noted for its extreme privacy, and architectural detailing. Vale Viqi gives you 182 square metres/1960 square feet of exclusive space plus private courtyard/deck. Air conditioned, sound system, two indoor showers, two outdoor showers, bidet, bathtub, cosy dining area, and plunge pool, all surrounded by beautiful tropical foliage. All this plus easy beach access.

Full time staff reside in nearby quarters along with permanent electric cart transportation.

LIke its big sister, THE POINT, Vale Viqi is already becoming heavily booked  (It is popular with honeymooners) so be early to avoid disppointment!
