Moody's Namena is the only resort on 110 acre Namenalala Island, with a maximum capacity of12 guests in 6 guest bures designed to accommodate one couple per bure.
A large hexagonal bure, 'vale ni kana' - or clubhouse, is our central gathering place consisting of lounge area, dining, self-serve bar and houses a large paperback library. Here you will find books on fish and coral identification, birds, local culture & traditions.
There is a five night minimum stay which is all-inclusive of:
Dining
Dining is usually communal and a time to share the day's experiences with fellow guests. However, for romantics or honeymoon couples who prefer to dine alone, the staff are happy to set up a table on the patio. Meals are included in the daily tariff. Kitchen staff bake breads, pastries, cakes daily and can cater to your dietary requirements.
Although Namenalala Island does not have ground water nor does it get the rainfall most places in Fiji get annually, they grow their own bananas, pineapples, lemons/limes, papaya, soursop, sugar apples, heart of palm, coconuts and other tropical fruits and vegetables - some are seasonal and may not be available year round but we can purchase from the markets in Savusavu or Nadi. Our cuisine is a blend of local and international fare.
Complimentary Activities
Use of snorkeling equipment, snorkel excursions to the Namena Barrier Reef, canoeing, ocean kayaking, hiking trails across the 110 acre island, private beaches for romantic picnics, birdwatching, beach volleyball, fishing (either trolling or handline fishing the Fijian way).
Children 16 years or older are welcome.
Scuba Diving
The only additional-pay activity is scuba diving. We dive one tank after breakfast in the morning, returning to the island for a sumptuous buffet or beach barbeque lunch and again one tank in the afternoon. Our dive sites, depending upon prevailing sea conditions, are a 10-25 minute boat ride from the island. Must be a certified diver & bring C-Card in order to dive.
Getting There
Round-trip sea transfers are based on morning flight into Savusavu on day of arrival & afternoon flight out of Savusavu on departure date from the island. Additional charges if any change in arrival/departure times.
Namenalala Island is surrounded by the famous Namena Barrier Reef which became a marine reserve in June 2004. Beautiful plastic-coated tags are sold for F$25 each to compensate the Fijian villages who have stopped fishing within their designated reefs and the funds go towards scholarship awards to the children of these villages.
Not included in tariff
Alcoholic or carbonated beverages, sundry items, telephone, fax, internet usage, scuba diving. Please note we do not serve alcoholic beverages by-the-drink. We invite you to purchase a bottle or two of your favourite spirit (gin, rum, whiskey, vodka) at the duty-free shop in the baggage-claim area of the Nadi International Airport as you enter the country. Or, let us know in advance and we can purchase locally in your behalf awaiting your arrival. We do have in stock on the island - Fiji beer, carbonated beverages, small selection of wines - which we will sell to you at cost. Weight is a critical factor on the domestic planes; however, a bottle or two of your preferred spirit should not pose a problem. Our bar is self-serve honor system.
