This small eco resort accommodates a maximum of ten guests in four comfortably furnished bures overlooking the peaceful Somosomo Strait and world-famous Rainbow Reef.

Nakia is located on ten spectacular acres in a pristine area between two colorful seaside Fijian towns - Matei, home to the Taveuni airport, and Somosomo/Naqara - the largest town on the island.

Nakia provides the privacy, services and amenities associated with luxury resorts at moderate prices, within reach of guests seeking family lodging and budget travel. 

Your stay at Nakia includes use of the resort's facilities and equipment - swimming pool, kayaks, deluxe mountain bikes and games.

Nakia Resort & Dive is centrally located on Taveuni, with easy access to the island's many offerings. The scuba diving and snorkeling is world class. The Rainbow Reef and Great White Wall will be the high points of a diving vacation.

Other water sports include swimming, fishing, surfing and trips to remote waterfalls and secluded beaches by kayak, boat or hiking. Have fun splashing down Taveuni's natural water slide. Streams are unpolluted and the rainforest is extensive and pristine with no harmful animals or insects.

As an eco resort, Nakia offers a comfortable and relaxing environment using the sustainable, natural energy of the sun, wind, and water. Guests enjoy water from artesian springs and fresh organic fruits, vegetables, herbs and flowers grown year-round on site.

Dining

Nakia's Cliffhouse Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner daily, overlooking the pool and Somosomo Strait. The Cliffhouse features tropical fruit drinks, seafood, local beef and chicken, and produce from Nakia's own organic garden. Breads, cookies and cakes are baked daily. Vegetarian and other special meals can be made to order - just let us know your dietary preferences.

There also are several small restaurants on Taveuni, and most resorts include a restaurant.

Weddings & Special Occasions

Nakia can host your Fiji wedding, honeymoon, family reunion or other special occasion and will work with you to plan activities.

Other special activities for groups such as cooking classes can be organised.

Getting there

Roundtrip transfers between Nakia and Taveuni's airport at Matei or the ferry dock are included in the price.

Nakia offers guests a choice of four bures (a Fijian cottage or bungalow) overlooking the Somosomo Strait and Rainbow Reef.

All bures are new with continuous power and on-demand hot water.

Bures feature

• elevated ceilings with fans,
• cool tile floors,
• comfortable locally-made furnishings,
• premium mattresses,
• side tables and chairs,
• ample closet space,
• refrigerator
• locally-crafted, decorative mats, fabrics and wood carvings.

The Somosomo bure (up to four guests), overlooking the Somosomo Strait and Rainbow Reef, has a king size bed, two single beds, full bath, indoor sitting area, and large furnished covered porch with hammock. This bure also has tea and coffee making facilities, but no kitchen.

The Sunset, Forest, and Garden bures (1 or 2 guests each) also have elevated water views. These bures feature a queen size bed, kitchenette with refrigerator and gas burner, full bath, indoor sitting area, and furnished patio with hammock.
